Message Molybdenum and tungsten disulfide coatings are actually extremely common and are not always identified by name. Its entirely possible Bezza's coatings contains one of them. (although a quick look at the product description online doesnt mention either) Read the "coated engine bearings" and "coatings work" sections of this article:

La-Z-Link

And this article/ad is on the product I use:

La-Z-Link

...which includes my justification for a dry film lubricant type coating of moly disulfide as opposed to a polymer matrix type. I would imagine the teflon/moly coatings from sources such as Calico have a lot of concern for the "dry start" scenario. (for which I would imagine teflon shines) Based on the article in the first link, Swain coatings are DFL type like my coating.

"Swain said coatings are not as easy to develop or apply as one might think. If not done correctly, the coating may flake off. Molybdenum disulfide and tungsten disulfide are both extremely tough coating materials that can withstand pressures of up to 350,000 psi without deforming or galling. They also hold oil rather than repel it to improve lubricity. But either material alone won't stick to a bearing surface. The active ingredients must be held in a polymer matrix that has a pseudo-metallurgical bond with the bearing."

Having a substrate bond stronger that the film strength in my experience with film development has been a surefire way to prevent delamination. It effectively arrests the propagation by not being able to transmit the forces required to fail the adjacent film. Aka, no flakes.

Daily driving a TT is like ordering your favorite pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's not healthy and eventually you will lose the magic of the meal. Sometimes you just have to have some meatloaf.

My new meatloaf.... 1994 Black Honda Civic DX :D

what? It looks a little stumpy, but fits great in the hand! (n/m) - ZEngineer 12/12/06
